New York City Breast Implants

Breast implants are available in saline or silicone and come in a variety of sizes and profiles.  With respect to the filler, some breast implants are manufactured with a fixed volume of filler, some are filled during the operation, and some allow for adjustments of the filler volume after the operation. In New York City breast implants are one of the most popular plastic surgeries. Saline breast implants are placed through a small incision, and silicone breast implants are placed through a larger incision.

Procedure

Once you have decided to undergo New York City breast surgery through implant placement surgery, there are a few steps that must be completed before the procedure can take place.  If you smoke, you’ll be asked to stop at least two months before the procedure, as smoking will delay the healing process.  The procedure usually is straightforward, but leaking silicone gel can be difficult to remove, and may require more extensive surgery.

Safety

Safety is assessed by complications, such as implant rupture, capsular contracture, and reoperation.  Fourteen years and mountains of safety data later, the FDA relaxed its stance, approving two manufacturers’ applications to market silicone gel-filled implants for breast augmentation once again.  FACT: Concerning the status of our third generation silicone gel breast implants, FDA has now spoken on the safety and effectiveness of these products.
