Building Wonderful Rug Pads
One reason for the Rug Pads Protect Area Rugs decay is because when there is no rug pad, the bottom of the rug rubs against the hard flooring beneath it. Obviously this is like oriental rug pads. While this could be done, it is not something that you want to do if you want the job completed the right way. This is because the bottom of your rug is crushed against the hard floor.
Rug pads provide extra cushioning. If you don’t have anything underneath your rug, this dirt will just sit there and grind away at the bottom of your rug as it is walked on. But has little, or nothing, to do with carpet rug pads usually. And if you are not the one doing the installation, you should make sure that you still know what is going on.
Rug pads not only protect wall-to-wall carpet, but they also protect hardwood flooring and tiles. What about safety? Have you ever walked on a rug – especially on a runner – and have it slip underneath you? Have you ever tripped on a curled up edge of a rug walking into a room? In these days of ready law-suits, the last thing you want is a hazard waiting to happen – most importantly to keep you and your family safe, but also to prevent unfortunate accidents for guests. This is similar to felt pads frequently. There is nothing worse than a rug that is not laying flush on the ground.
Rug pads aid in the prevention of bacteria, odor, mildew and mold build up. Protects your floor from any potential staining. Again, the pad is used as a buffer between the rug itself and the floor that is underneath.
Rug pads reduce slippage. And one final tip, when laying your rug pad down, make sure you read the instructions to ensure you are putting the right side down – some pads have different textures on the bottom to help it grip better to the floor. You want to make sure that you get a rug pad that is of high quality, and of course, one that is known to get the job done. Rug pads come in all shapes and sizes and most can be sized with a pair of household scissors.
